还是 háishì or (only one alternative possible)
一点钟还是两点钟 ? yī diăn zhōng háishì liăng diăn zhōng? At 1 o'clock or at 2 o'clock?


或者 huòzhě or (both alternatives possible)
我想买茶或者水 ◦ wŏ xiăng măi chá huòzhě shuĭ. I would like to order tea or water.

Contrast

可是 kě shì but
他是中国人可是他英文说得很好 ◦ tā shì Zhōnguó rén kě shì tā yīngwén shuō de hěn hăo. He is Chinese, but he speaks English very well.
