Service Packs are a computer science term referring to the way data and often new program code are organized and released as a major software upgrade which (normally) self-updates (self-installs) a piece of updated computer software.
- Windows XP for example had three major Service Pack releases over a lengthy period.
- Various Trainz release versions, especially those incorporating the most new technology and changes in the data models or game engines have had as many as four.
