SI units

The SI unit for area is meters squared, or m². Area is used to measure how large something is, such as a sheet of paper or the size of a backyard.

Area is length squared, and length times area is volume. Every step up the prefix ladder means 100x the area, so 1 dekameter is 100x larger than 1 meter squared.

Imperial units

The Imperial unit for area varies depending on usage. There is the acre, which is 43,560 square feet, square yards, and square feet.
