Macrococcus, (from Ancient Greek μακρός (makrós), meaning "long", and κόκκος (kókkos), meaning "kernel" or "Kermes"[3][4]) is a genus of Gram-positive cocci belonging to the family Staphylococcaceae. The genus was created in 1998.[5]
