Methylorubrum populi is an aerobic, pink-pigmented, facultatively methylotrophic, methane-utilizing bacterium isolated from poplar trees (Populus deltoides, hence its name). Its type strain is BJ001^T (=ATCC BAA-705^T =NCIMB 13946^T).^[2]
