Medical Machines/Microtomes/Replace barrel-cylinder assembly
Replace barrel and cylinder assembly in sliding block.
To fit the barrel into the sliding block, the link block is first fitted onto the crank pin with bevelled corner down and toward the rear of the machine. The end of the barrel is then inserted into the bore of the sliding block while sliding the link block into the groove of the barrel. Take care to avoid damage to the polymer link block or to the barrel and cylinder. The barrel can not be installed with the link block in the groove and not on the crank pin.
-
1. Orientation of the polymer link block in the groove of the barrel. This is only to illustrate orientation of the block. The block must be on the crank pin before engaging the groove of the barrel. Refer to the above explanation.
-
2. Grasping the barrel of the Biocut 2030 while avoiding distortion of the flexible shaft.
-
3. Carefully fit the barrel and cylinder assembly into the sliding block while engaging the polymer link block in the track of the barrel. Note the orientation of the link block. Caution: forcing in this step will produce unrepairable damage.
-
4. Replace the pin, spring and bolt arranged as in the following photo.
-
5. Note the arrangement of pin, spring, bolt and setscrew when assembled in the sliding block.
-
6. Replace the setscrew in the sliding block. The tip of the screw fits the groove in the bolt.
-
7. The barrel is fastened to the sliding block by six M4-0.7 x 25 mm socket cap screws. Using a 3 mm wrench, replace the four screws above the cylinder and two screws below the cylinder without tightening. Then tighten the six screws evenly.
-
8. Engage the end of the flexible shaft in the gear spindle. Take care to avoid kinking the shaft.
-
9. Replace the setscrew.
-
10. Raise the left side of the machine and support on a block. The gear carrier is fastened to the chassis by three M5-0.8 x 25 mm socket cap screws, each with a spring washer.
-
11. The gear carrier should be held one screw since disassembly. Replace the rearmost screw fastening the gear carrier to the chassis without tightening.
-
12. Replace the innermost screw fastening the gear carrier to the chassis. Tighten the three screws evenly.
-
13. Remove the supporting block and check that coarse adjustment works smoothly over the full range between green and red lines near the front of the cylinder.
